Just a quick lunchtime blog post to celebrate the life of scriptwriter and director Nora Ephron who passed away on 26th June from pneumonia.
Nora wrote the screenplay for film such as When Harry Met Sally, Sleepless in Seattle and most recently Julie and Julia.
But my favourite film of Nora’s, which she wrote the screenplay for and directed, was You’ve Got Mail about two ‘emailing lovers’ that every technology and book loving girl wishes were about her. The film reunited Meg Ryan and Tom Hanks after Sleepless inSeattle. That movie touches my heart so much and I can watch it over and over. When Harry Met Sally is famous for the ‘orgasm’ scene, if you’ve seen it you’ll know what I mean 😉
As one of the world’s biggest lovers of rom-com movies, books, wonderful writing, strong female characters this is my tribute and salute to Nora – your writing and presence in the world will be missed greatly.
