I recently visited Mas Q Menos, a Spanish Tapas restaurant based a few minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Circus. There is only one way I can describe everything about this restaurant – Sexy!

I find Spain and Spanish tapas generally very sexy.. The passion that the food is made with, the taste of the red wine and the way you share food is full of love. If you’re on a casual date tapas is definitely the way to go!

On this occasion I visited the restaurant with a single friend and during the meal we discussed our love lives, boys and dating. Sharing it over tapas was an excellent way to catch up so it shows that tapas is not just for dates but an amazing place to do that.

If you’re looking for somewhere to catch up or have a date Mas Q Menos is the place to be!

My friend Bina (visit her blog here) and I decided to start with a really nice glass of red wine (Milu – Tinto Fino – Ribera Del Duero). An organic wine which was full bodied, rustic and honest. A true winter warmer! It had a slightly fruity smell to it, was potent, dry and woody.

Bina and I decided to order a selection of tapas so we started with some tiny baby olives. These had little stones in with a strong taste, they were fresh and slightly seasoned. Along with the tapas we ordered a rocket salad which included pine nuts and a balsamic dressing. These starters were served with yummy, moreish corn nuts.

Then we had some little stuffed red peppers. These were stuffed with cottage cheese and were oily, creamy, vibrant and aromatic. These just popped straight into your mouth and went down a treat. This was one of particularly sexy dishes! A great dish to dig into with your fingers if you’re on a date.

Next we had the Superior Iberian Cured Loin (lomo iberico) which was rich. Strong, full flavoured and tender. The loin was served with tomato bread.

One point to note was the restaurant was really good for catering to dietary requirements. My friend could not eat tomato so they bought out some bread especially without the tomato base.

Smoked salmon with capers was next.. which was oily, rich and fresh. This was served with crispy bread.

The Manchego cheese was again served with bread and was a nice side accompaniment. This would be a great dish for kids who may not want the richer Spanish foods and would be something they would really enjoy.

And finally the sexiest tapas dish of the night was the melted provolone cheese with fine herbs served with crispy bread – it looked great almost like a crème brulee. This gooey, cheesy, rich, creamy, yummy, delicious caramelised cheese was an oasis of pure delight for the taste buds and an absolute great dish for sharing on a date. This was sexy tapas indeed!

For dessert we ordered the Raspberry white chocolate brulee which I thought was more like a cheesecake when served but delicious, sweet, indulgent and fruit.. it also only lasted about a minute so it didn’t matter that it wasn’t what we had imagined it would be like.

We finished the meal with  Bina having a decaf cappuccino and me a glass of rioja.

Overall Mas Q Menos was an amazing hidden gem in the heart of London, great for dates, catching up with friends or post work quick dinner. The restaurant has really good disabled facilities with the disabled toilets being in the main restaurant and with easy access into the restaurant. The staff were really friendly and knowledgeable without being intrusive, especially Isobelle who was from my favourite Spanish city Valencia. Carlos the manager seemed really passionate about the food which was great to see. Even though it has only been open for two months I can really see this place growing to be a really popular spot. A great thumbs up from me!
