Eat, Pray, Love…and Friendship

I am going to be embarking on a journey in a few days. A journey which I hope will involved lots of love, laughter, tears, joy, food, spirituality and dancing.

I have been looking forward to this for the last few months. It is long overdue and very much needed.

I am going to be visiting a friend who I have known since I was 16 years old and I wanted to share the story of how we met. I also wanted to share the story of a girl who’s been a major part of my life for the last ten years. These stories are not very long or exciting really but they are rather special about two very special people.

The first friend of mine, SP, lives in California, currently residing in San Francisco and we met ‘online’ (yes it is a girl so don’t be getting any ideas 😉 ) when I was about 16 and I had just gotten my first computer with internet. I think it was one of those white Packard Bells that everyone had.  We met on a chat room (Chai Time I believe it was) the rest is history. With her inimitable style and her way to always ease my emotions SP and I have always stayed in touch over email, msn messenger (when we all used to use it) and recently G Talk and Skype. I, on Monday, am going to be taking a 10 hour flight from Heathrow and visiting her inSan Francisco, with my other equally best friend BG.

I remember meeting BG in my first few days of studying Marketing at NorthamptonUniversity. I think BG and I met for the ‘actual’ first time at the cinema, a group of us had gone to see one of the Fast and Furious movies I believe Groovemaster Chaz was with us in the group of cinema – goers (we studied at the same uni). We’d gotten chatting and afterwards, somehow (I don’t even remember exactly how, possibly on a bus to Leicester which I used to take to take another bus to Nottingham or on one of the ubiquitous student nights) we became friends. We shared a lot – tears, chats, bitching, laughter, food, loves and alcohol.

These two girls have been there for me whenever I have needed them. Of late my life has become a routine of writing, working and meeting guys then having my heart broken but these girls have been there for me throughout to shake, slap or literally tell me to ‘get over it.’

It has kind of become a shift pattern. Talking to BG in the day time and when she has gone to bed at night (she’s a sleepy head!) America then hits the afternoon and SP takes over. I will be eternally grateful and appreciative of these talks we’ve always had and I look forward to BG meeting SP and Vice Versa… tears are filling my eyes as I write this as Ellie Goulding Starry Eyed plays on Radio 1 so I must stop now.
